I'm way ahead of my plan. I didn't go to work today. It was snowy and I had a couple of clients only but really I just didn't feel great. What I did do though is finish this draft of the novel. The last part went way faster though I think I'm not really finished - I've just pared it down to the bones and now I need to see what will happen. I'm going to leave it for a bit and then read the whole thing now that it is all in Pinky's voice. I do miss one of the other voices though and that is her step-aunt Ethel. Her voice was as much fun to write as Pinky's so there might be another major adjustment. I just have to sit with it and see what the shape is going to be. I took out the Prologue since I wasn't having the other voices in it and it was made of all of them. The ending is rather abrupt as I had a sort of denouement that was in Em's voice (Pinky's sister). So I think I need to figure out (now that I've got the voice and the story) what the structure needs. I'm not even sure what I mean by this but I"ll figure it out. I'm down from 80 thousand words to 50 and would be happy to get it up to 60 or 65. Do you know how many words were in Catcher in the Rye? 73,404. So there. Slaughter-House Five - 49,459. Yep! What do you think of those bananas???
I'm obsessed with word count. so there ya go - now you know. You can start teasing me now.
Now for a weird question. I bought this toppish thing from Joe Fresh (yep at the grocery store) and I hate the smell. I thought it had absorbed too much detergent and washed it a few more times but it still smells all chemically. I was going to wear it to work thinking I'd just get over it but now I'm going to go take it off. Has anyone had this experience? It is really weird and it totally bugs me because I would like this as either a top or a nightgown (hmmm... never mind).
I hate smelly shit.
Okay now I'm going to go upstairs and see if I can bear to eat anything. Then I might lie down for a bit. What a weird day. I miss my dog. I miss my dog. I miss my dog.

YAY! Congratulations on finishing! And yeah... that structure thing can get confusing... I think I need a brain with a bigger memory so I can keep the whole picture (which is to say, book) in my head at once....

Jan, I've had a similar problem with two blazers/jackets I bought. They were brown, so I was wondering if it were something about the dye? Is your top brown? I've tried everything. Cute tops, but I won't wear them.
